The art of living

A 22 Grados Campaign for Hospitales Universitarios San Roque

What did we do?

We analyzed and studied the emotions of three real patients from Hospitales Universitarios San Roque to assess the impact of trust in medical teams and the quality of care on the recovery process.

How did we do it?

We measured the brain activity of each patient during interviews where they shared their experiences. This was done using the Golineuro Cap, a high-resolution brain activity monitoring device equipped with 2,048 NIRS sensors.

This technology allowed us to identify which areas of the brain were activated as patients recalled specific moments from their recovery journey.

What did we achieve?

  • – Insight into patients’ brain activity.
  • – Identification of the thoughts and emotions linked to their recovery process.
  • – Highlighting the importance of trust in medical teams and the role of personalized care in recovery.
  • – Capturing brain images showing which areas were activated when patients recalled positive emotions associated with their treatment.
  • – Using this data, 22 Grados developed the campaign “El arte de vivir” (The art of living).

What did we measure?

  • – Brain activity of the three real patients involved in the campaign, using NIRS microsensors.
  • – The types of thoughts and emotions triggered when recalling their experiences.

Work process

Each patient participated in one-on-one interviews about their illness and treatment at Hospitales Universitarios San Roque, while wearing the Golineuro Cap to track their brain activity.

Following the interviews, an in-depth analysis of brain activity and emotions was conducted, leading to key findings and visual representations of brain activation in response to positive emotions. This data was then used by 22 Grados to create the campaign “El arte de vivir”, which you can watch at the following link:
