It’s a fantastic feeling. You go to a restaurant, savor the dishes, don’t say no to a good dessert, and when you’re done, you need to loosen your belt.

But to achieve that, we propose the reverse action: fastening the belt. Although ours isn’t just any belt, and it’s not even a typical belt.

We’re talking about the Golineuro Band, an electrogastrograph (EGG) used to record and analyze the electrical activity of the gastrointestinal system.

What’s its purpose? To measure gastric motility, which is the movement of the stomach muscles that aid in digestion and the movement of gastric contents into the small intestine.

There is a direct relationship between the brain and the gut, so emotional activation can have a significant impact on gastric motility.

This valuable tool for diagnosing and researching gastrointestinal disorders is also very useful for analyzing emotions in research in other fields, especially in gastronomy. It can measure stomach movements during food intake but also before intake when the diner sees or smells the food but hasn’t consumed it yet, even though they would like to.
