VISIONA: Analyzing data, improving experiences
Going to a restaurant is more than just enjoying its cuisine. Diners seek a complete experience that satisfies them in multiple ways. Therefore, feeling comfortable, well attended to, and in a relaxed atmosphere is as gratifying to them as enjoying a good dish.
To improve efficiency and service in the restaurant industry, the VISIONA project, led by the Foodservice Cluster, has been carried out. Artificial vision technology has been used to analyze customer satisfaction and how employees at La Cuina de Laietana, a restaurant located in Barcelona, influence it.
“This analysis enables identifying areas for improvement in furniture, detecting and eliminating bottlenecks, and offering promotions during less busy times”.
Specifically, Goli Neuromarketing has analyzed 28 metrics with 41 emotions on both floors of the restaurant. The results were included in the AEI Ambit dashboard, leading to proposed changes and promotions to enhance circulation and the flow of people during quieter moments.
The project has been developed in several phases. The data was collected in January, followed by analysis in February, and decision-making regarding the types of changes to be made in March. Among these modifications, the replacement of chairs, which were associated with a feeling of discomfort, was identified. Additionally, promotional measures were implemented during less busy hours, involving collaboration with hotels and tour guides to attract visitor groups during those times. Subsequently, the data was measured and analyzed again, demonstrating clear improvements in comfort, reduced waiting times, consistent traffic flow, and more positive emotions.
Goli Neuromarketing has employed its unique space monitoring technology and artificial intelligence engine to detect emotions for this project. The successful application of 4.0 technologies has helped restaurateurs improve their customer service, increase revenue, and gain objective insights into their business.
The goal is to carry out a second phase of this project by incorporating the Inteligencia de las Cosas (Yate) to gather information about the restaurant’s digital elements, such as the point-of-sale system, table management, lighting, and even the inclusion of a new dining establishment.
VISIONA is a project that has been developed between August 2022 and April 2023, led by the AEI Foodservice Cluster, with the participation of AEI Ambit, Goli Neuromarketing, Meritem, and Fama Sofás. It has been funded with support from the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Tourism for Innovative Business Associations.
